After a monstrous week in Miami, the guys at Dirtybird have truly shown everyone how to party. Barclay Crenshaw (more commonly known as Claude VonStroke – head honco at Dirtybird) has held day parties, pool parties and underground parties during this year’s Miami Music Week and with me sitting here at my desk in an embarrassingly cold Bournemouth, I can’t help but wish I was there partying with them.
That’s when I remembered that as well as the players having the time of their lives in the blistering heat, Crenshaw has also announced the launch of Dirtybird’s new sister label, Dirtybird Select. As it stands, no-one really knows anything about the label and how it’s different to Dirtybird but good things come to those who wait, so I’m sure in time he’ll give us the lowdown.
Don’t think for a second that this news comes without a gift though. Barclay has given us a stunning release to launch the label and it comes from none other than Ciszak, the Brazilian born producer who moved to LA just over a year ago. All VonStroke has said about the track is: “If the ancient Mayans really were aliens from outer space that landed on earth this is what they would have listened to.”
This track ticks all the boxes for a Dirtybird release, low-frequency bassline, contagious vocals and quirky synth leads. There’s really no other label that it could have been released on, as soon as you hear it you can feel all of those Dirtybird qualities from the get-go. It’s a track that makes you feel a bit uncomfortable, happy and excited all at the same time. It’s super easy to dance to and if the Dirtybird snapchat is anything to go by, it properly goes off anytime it’s played in a club. This is the perfect release to launch a new label, I can’t wait to hear what else Dirtybird Select has in store.
NB: The Dirtybird snapchat is dirtybirdsnap – thank me later.
