The mix of the week this week comes from the duo who never fail to bring it all, GotSome.
Adam Gorsky and Alex Holmes (aka GotSome) are a UK based production duo who are championing the bass and house scene at the moment. This pair work in the best way possible as Adam has years of DJing under his belt so is more than happy to take the helm behind the decks, whereas Alex has more studio-based experience so he can develop their sound.
They’re probably best known for their song ‘Bassline’, which was released on the almighty Defected Records last year. If you haven’t heard this song or some form of remix of this song then I’m pretty sure you must have been living under a rock for the past year. Anyway, just incase you haven’t, check it out here:
Now, not only do GotSome produce some awesome remixes – Basement Jaxx, Jack Beats and Storm Queen to name a few, they also make wicked mixes as well! This one was made for Thump and is exactly what I’ve been looking for this summer. It starts a lot darker, which all you bassheads will adore, but then ends more progressively, which is definitely the sound of this summer, if you ask me. It features the likes of Redlight, Melé, New York Transit Authority and Mak & Pasteman before moving on to some lighter tracks by Bodhi, Kartell and Cassini.
I can’t tell you how much I adore this mix, I’ve been waiting for something like this to drop all year and I can’t believe it has taken me 8 months to find one!
This is definitely one to listen through headphones or through really great speakers, so maybe don’t whack it on your Beats Pill at the family BBQ, save it for some precious alone time and really appreciate these tracks, mixes like this don’t come around often.
